We offer a 30% return on sales of 12-49 items and a 40% return on sales of 50 or more items.

Letter from Beth

Hi there,

In case I haven't introduced myself, I'm Beth Hellman. I work with Mark Binder in a number of capacities, but today I'm speaking as the head of a small (but hearty) independent publishing house.

Because Mark has recently scheduled an event at your school we hope that you are interested in helping students and faculty obtain copies of his books and audio. This can be as simple as placing a small order for the library/media center or as grand as arranging for a school-wide sale and fundraiser.

My job is to make your job easier -- and to get as many wonderful books and cds to readers and listeners as we can.

Let me start by giving you a resource page to bookmark. This page will contain a copy of this letter (in case you lose it), information about ordering single and multiple copies, elegant plans for managing school sales and order forms for downloading, printing and distribution.

Now, let's get into some details.

First of all, we have tried to keep our offer straightforward and simple. We offer a 30% discount on orders of 12 to 49 items, and a 40% discount on orders greater than 50 items.

What this means is, when you order a dozen books at $10 each, you pay a total of $72 (plus shipping and handling). When you order 50 books (or cds) you would pay only $300 (plus s&h). The savings of $36 or $200 respectively can be passed on as a discount to your students, or reinvested into your school's funds.

Next, one of the most important questions you need to answer is, who is going to manage this process? We've tried to keep it as simple as possible, but it still takes a contact-person to make everything happen. Some possibilities include: PTO fundraising chair, parent volunteer, school librarian, committed teacher.

Our process works like this:

1. You schedule your event and confirm author availability.
2. You contact us and we contact you to get the ball rolling. Send an email to orders@lightpublications.com
3. Set your goals -- whether it's to order books for in-school use only, offer to students and hope for the best, or to really work to maximize funds raised for the school.
4. Download our fundraising kit. It includes information, scripts for P.A. announcements, order forms and timelines.
5. Follow the directions on the how-to timelines.
6. Email us with your questions and ideas.
7. Collect forms and payments.
8. Place your order. Send payment to us.
9. Receive your books!

Be sure to ask the author to sign copies on the day of the event.
